RULES-

1- Don't post any versus map exploits, (The Forsaken), on this thread! Instead, PM me it!

2- Please don't post the same bug numerous times!!!


KNOWN BUGS-

1- You have to type snd_rebuildaudiocache for sound to work

Solution- Sorry guys, this is a VALVe bug. You have to put up with it for now. I'm researching work-around's right now.

2- The computer screens are glowing and hard to read when you use them

Solution- Forgot to update the 7z file prior to my release. Will be updated for version 1.1. Wasn't a game-ending bug, so I didn't delay the release because of it.

3- In The Overgrown Facility, if you transition into the map, there are floating weapons, and pain pills at the start!!!

Solution- Another bug in VALVe's code. The director automatically transitions everything to the next map. You are unable to make the director not transition things. I am trying to experiment with item placement, but for the time being you guys may need to suffer :( sorry. This was a bug of mine for months. It doesn't REALLY affect the gameplay, so it wasn't much of a priority.

4- Fire sprites sometimes don't play. Most noticeably in The Source after the traitor is revealed.

Solution- This is a problem with video cards. Many of my testers have not reported this, but my geforce 9500 doesn't play fire sprites sometimes. Again, something I don't have control over!!!

5- If I play The Forsaken right after Cold Case, My upgrades are transferred! If I skip a map via typing it into the console, it also transfers!

Solution- This is because the upgrades of both the zombies and survivors are done via server cvars. The easiest way to fix this is to turn off cheats, (sv_cheats 0), PRIOR TO CHANGING MAPS! This will reset the stats back to 0. Each of the Cold Case maps have pre-set minimum stats that are activated on map startup, along with enabling sv_cheats.

6- People keep spawning tanks and stuff when I play Cold Case on pubs! HELP!

Solution- This is because the workaround to having the upgrading stats and zombies was to turn on sv_cheats. Either don't play Cold Case on pubs, or get better friends together! If you want a more normal L4D pub experience, play The Forsaken!!!!

7- The credits don't roll in CCTF cooperative!!!

Solution- Sorry guys, missed it! Will be fixed in 1.1

8- The bots will make a bee-line through the mansion and teleport through all of the doors if you get the secret M14 outside the mayors mansion in CC3. They can also teleport through the slow moving door if you are right next to it!!!

Solution- Sorry guys, another bug. Will be fixed in 1.1. Best thing I can say is don't get the m14 and the bots wont teleport through :P

9- Even after the players get the key, they still can't get back into the super witch room! They just keep teleporting over and over again!

Solution- This is a throwback problem to a temporary path finding fix the bots had, (what would happen is the player would get separated, the bots would then run around and then hump the door until they teleport through it). I already have it on the 1.1 fix, however since it doesn't break the game, the only thing I can say is "the players are too afraid to go back in". :P

Sorry to post here, but, how i can upgrade Weapons, i find tables to upgrade items/weapons?
It's possible? how?

It is not very clearly outlined, (sorry, limitation of the code without making a mod. Trying to figure out a workaround), but basically if it displays the txt message when you approach a table, or USE the table, then you are upgraded. some weapons are more noticeable, (uzi) while others are barely, (shirtgun).

Hi !

Unfortunately I could not get further than to the saferoom of first map (prison). I see the "Loading…the overgrown facility" and the game hangs.
Then a mini application appears which I have never seen before, named "Assert". it says "d: \mdurand_l4d\l4d\rel\src\tier0\memstd.cpp", Line 1635,
*OUT OF MEMORY! attempted allocation size 98467054*

I have some buttons to click "Break in Debugger", "Ignore this Assert" etc.
Any clue ?

I had this same problem occur as well as two of my friends. Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated since we love the map so far.

Same here, Left 4 Dead crashed while loading "The Overgrown Facility".

Also, ending credits don't show after the finale for "Forsaken".

Strange……… All of those bugs have never cropped up before. I guess I will ask around for possible fixes…

As far as the ending credits…. were you playing coop or versus?

The Same Crash with me, but it isnt happening, if i load that Level directly. Still, steam seemed to crash later on (with no message at all).
Another Bug (?) i encountered was happening at the "Source", when overloading the Core - i pushed the button and enemys kept coming and coming and coming. Sometime after that, no regular Zombies attack anymore. Only Special Infected kept coming. And thats going on forever.

Oh, i forgot the Problem, that i couldnt find the key to open the door to the room with the switch to power up the generator and get access to the Elevator later on. But i am not sure, if its just me being blind again xD

Inside the 'witch mansion', there is a door, wich i cannot go through. It just keeps blocking me. (And: I cannot get out of the Squishing trap after getting the Shotgun. Is there any way to survive that?)

Yes, it's a puzzle. Read the warnings.

The locked room is for the separated players. This is not common in l4d, so a lot of players don't know exactly what to do.

As for the core….. No idea. Maybe it's because your playing on a server with special server cvars?!?!?!

No, no… You misunderstood me - it is the door with the key, taken from the 'Super-witch' before. Door's open, but i cannot go through. Something is blocking me and my screen keeps tilting if i still try to walk on.

about the core: nope. At least i didnt change any cvars myself. (Local Game)

Bah,

Yet another bug the testers didn't catch…. if they actually played the goddamn map.

NOTE- Since it teleports you outside the witch area, it really doesn't break the game. Once the player leaves that area there is really nothing important to do, (I will prob try and figure out some way where the player gets out and can't get back in. That way players don't try and shoot the witch to make the game go funky.

Hi there!

Unfortunately, when I load up 'Cold Case' all I get are psychedelic purple colours! I am using the latest Beta nVidia drivers (v195.39) and my 'default' Operating System (Windows XP Homw - with all the latest updates, drivers, etc). Here are my Tech Specs:

yeah i get it too sometimes. It's the background right? I think that's another valve problem. L4D is pretty buggy since they've been spending their time on l4d2

Yes we all LOVE VALVE! :) Try this: press alt+tab to get to desktop. then switch back to the game. works for me all the time.

@mfranswa: When your campaigns were tested did the testers try different SHADER details in the video card section in the game ?
Playing the versus campaign with MEDIUM shaders makes many things visible, i.e. the damaged gas tank where flames come out of it. They are completely invisible when playing with shaders in ULTRA HIGH. Also the light effects of the whole map become visible only when lowering the shader details. I know this is common in custom campaigns as I have read about this "issue" so many times now that I automatically adjust the shader settings. Try it, I am interested in what it looks like on your pc.
EDIT: I guess it´s about "fire sprites" ? I have no clue what a sprite is as english is not my native language. But if the situation described by me is the same as the missing sprites the workaround would be the reduction of shader details.

Finally, astonishing work, it´s really a sight for sore eyes. Congratulations!
