Beta 3, CCCO beta released!

by mrfranswamrfranswa on 14 Sep 2009 14:19

I know there are few/no followers of my news, however I am going to keep posting them to anyone who might come by! Beta 3 is now available to betatesters along with the new vs campaign, Cold Case: Covert Operations. If you are playing the vs campaign, (which you probably aren't, because only 2 people have dl it!), and you get stuck on CCCO4 at an invisible door, turn around, go into the room right behind you, and you see three combine-like machines on the left wall. Go to the center one, and press the USE button. This will signify that you obtained the virus. Now you can proceed through the empty doorway! I had to put this in so there was a point for the players to go to the island :P

Beta 3 is out now to betatesters. I already have seen some of the bugs, and I know I have to change the spawning portion of the tank in cc3 to help out those with slow connections. A workaround is already in the works.

I don't know if I will be able to finish beta 4 on time due to me moving, however I will try my hardest to finish!

If u have any questions, feel free to contact me

Woes of mapping

by mrfranswamrfranswa on 02 Sep 2009 18:57

Using a budget laptop, and a budget gaming pc can really be taxing. As many of you know, it is very system intensive to map for source, especially when it comes to compiling. One of the largest wastes of time when making a campaign such as this one, is the massive amount of time that goes into compiling.

I've been contemplating over the last few days about going a little in debt to upgrade my mobo and CPU. Doing so will cost me a few hundred dollars. I guess it depends if there are any great deals on labor day on newegg.

Anyone want to spare a dollar? :P

Event is a goooo!!!!!

by mrfranswamrfranswa on 01 Sep 2009 13:43

Hey everyone,

Yesterday I had a successful meeting with the Towson University Gaming Organization. It was very informal, however they have agreed to help with my campaign release on Halloween! I am going to be giving the official presentation this upcoming Monday to iron out the details for the event. I have also received calls and emails from other campus organizations expressing interest in helping me set up this event!

More details soon!

Give me versus!!!

by mrfranswamrfranswa on 30 Aug 2009 04:01

Taking a new gander at my maps is making me access what I need to change about them. Thankfully, splitting up the maps has also given me hints of what to cut, and what to leave in. My vs maps should have an 50-80% increase in FPS over my campaign maps. This is mainly due to 2 things; 1- the maps are 1/2 as long, 2- I know what to look for in saving fps.

Even though Cold Case: Covert Operations will probably be playable some time tomorrow, it won't be distributed until I finish beta 3. That is due out on sunday to the testers.

VALVe... BAH!

by mrfranswamrfranswa on 28 Aug 2009 12:17

Trying to get into contact with VALVe for questions is like sticking your…….. well nevermind. Long story short it's CRAP!

Every time I try to get in contact with someone in Public Relations, I keep getting redirected to Doug Lombardi's massive "IN" box. If anybody has any advice for getting a hold of the PR department at VALVe, I would greatly appreciate it. We would also like to show our support for L4D2 at the event, (since it will only come out two weeks after the event takes place).

Work'in hard for the money!

by mrfranswamrfranswa on 27 Aug 2009 14:59

As all of you may know, making a campaign is a LOT of work, especially when you aren't paid to do it! Times that by a campaign that is 2x the length of a valve campaign, 10X versus maps, 10X survival maps, moving to my new home, and putting together this event and you have insanity! I welcome the added stress, because I am doing something I really love. I hope to give all of my fans a gaming experience that is really extraordinary.

The progress of the event is very good. We are currently in the process of recruiting local sponsors. Over the next few weeks I will be finalizing the exact location of the event here at Towson University. As always, the online release party is already finalized. A lot of work has already gone into making this event a reality. As you might already know, there is already a strong fan base growing for this event both at home and on the internet! Over the next few weeks, you can find information about how to sign up for the event right here on the website.

The progress of the campaign is even better! To finish everything at one time, I have began recruiting community mappers to help me balance out the extensive versus campaign. Over the next week I will outline everything that WILL be distributed with the campaign, and what the contents will include. The only cut so far from the initial release is CC6, due to the fact I was unable to find a modeler before the deadline. Fear not however! This will only be content not initially distributed with the CD copy of the game due to be shipped out to pre-register's the first week of October. Any non-included content will be available free of charge on the numerous file sharing sites on the net!
