Will this mod work on Left 4 Dead 2 or just Left 4 Dead 1?
Only L4D1 I believe. I'd be surprised it if was re-released for L4D2, and the SDK on that doesn't even have a release date either.
All you really need to do is move the files to l4d2. I am guessing they are still working it out. I am pretty sure it doesn't even require recompiling.

I am definitely not copying approx. 22.000 files (!!!) on my PC to have a mess afterwards. Please release a VPK.

Ignorant trolls aside, not sure I'll attempt an install if it's messy. From other reports on boards, it sounds like almost 2.5GB of files too, can a VPK even accommodate that size?

Hey guys! I tried to drag and drop the extracted "cc" folder on the vpk shortcut. The ram being used by this process increases permanently. When it reaches approx. 1.6 GB usage the vpk process crashes with an "assert" application window showing up, telling me something is out of memory. Well I have 4 GB Ram, it´s not the RAM. strange stuff. I guess it´s not possible - yet - to create a vpk. Did someone have already success ? But it doesn´t matter much as you just have to move the extracted "cc" folder in the addons folder. No files get overwritten so there is no threat for existing vpk files or steam files.
That's because Valve has a limit to the size of a .vpk file. It was not possible to create one for this campaign.
Is it not possible to have seperate vpks for each campaign? Or are there too many shared textures or something?
I played both campaigns and I just would like to take this time into saying
BRAVO!!! I really enjoyed it and played with 2 of my friends as well good job hope to see more work. As for the noobs that can't read the readme.txt in there all you have to do is move the dang folder into your addons don't open the cc folder then move the maps,models,and ect. content keep it in the cc folder and drag and drop serious you don't need no freakin .vpk just because its not in a .vpk doesn't mean it works and for the noobs that have no idea a .vpk is a file that have all the maps,models,scripts,and sounds all together just like the damn folder except its a folder and not a .vpk so sorry for the noobs that can't get it to work and THANKS FOR THE AWESOME CAMPAIGNS!!!!

The most important part would be discussing the ease of installation for the mod. The file size is too large for .vpk. A copy-paste, as it is in this case, is very simple. This is also not the only Custom Campaign to require a snd_rebuildaudiocache, but it is the first I've seen packaged with a readme with that information actually posted inside.
To mrfranswa, thanks for the free content. I haven't done more than test to make sure it works yet, as I'm uploading it to my Dedicated Server right now, but no matter what, thank you.

We have no way of knowing what sort of internet connection you've got, but assuming you download at an average of about 200 kB/s, just over an hour.

mrfranswa many thanks for this great mod. I have the campaign uploaded on my server, but I can not play them on the server. what am I doing wrong. I put the cc folder in left4dead/addons and restart the server, but the maps are not available.

I don't want to spoil anything but I'm somewhat confused on the story, exactly who was agent orange and was Ryan good or bad? I got two endings but I can't really tell what the difference was. I guess the 6th map when it's released will explain more?
this makes Dead Before Dawn look extremly bad..ive had so much trouble with that campaign..bugs,and all sorts of crap..but this so far,has been flawless! and im nowhere even close to half way..im positive i'll be on here for many many more hours! amazing work
Okay, first of all I appreciate the work, time and ideas for that campaign. We played it in around 4 hrs. on normal. But all in one, it feels more like Half-Life 2 just with Left 4 Dead Character-Models. Or better to say, a L4D-Mod for HL2.
There are also too many tasks to do (find key, find jewel etc.), which can be very frustrating, when you search and search and search to get the objective. Especially in that house, when you always get dissapointed by the horde while searching. It takes too much time. We had the feeling in these 4+ hrs., that there where 2 hrs. wasting time, just because of looking and searching around do to the objectives, with closed doors, then open, yadda yadda yadda. If I want to play such crap with riddles, I play an adventure.
Anyway, but the big thing, that pissed us of, was the hype about this campaign with these lots of maps, 10 maps in the 2-part-campaign. The last 4 - the Forsaken-Part - where just 4 from the first part, only reversed (going all back) with tiny little differents. Seriously, that must be a joke. That doesn't count at all.
Well then, I gave it a 5 out of 10. You may play it once or twice, then you will abandoned it for "real" L4D-feeling campaigns.
So how do I get it to play?
What do I type to get it to start on the server?
Also can I copy all the folders into the left4dead folder like Deadbeforedawn?

Use these instructions for both CC and DBD….
SERVER SIDE
Extract the CONTENTS of the folder to /left4dead. Pay attention that you extracted the CONTENTS of the DeadBeforeDawn folder directly into your left4dead folder.
INCORRECT: left4dead/DeadBeforeDawn (There must be NO DeadBeforeDawn folder, only the files and folders inside the DeadBeforeDawn folder)
CORRECT: /left4dead
If you install it to the addons folder on your server, it WILL NOT detect it.

the maps are very cool and it s a pure awesomeness to play them .
i found one thing that could be a bug , but it should come more from engine than map : at the map l4d_cc3 the bots pass the metal door so it does not open for player [ at least in single-player mode ] . i made an image of door :

the ending of forsaken is a black screen , i think you forget to add the same code of cc ending to it .
other things to rework is the size of objects to find in maps and the camera path of the opening of map l4d_cc2 and at l4d_cc4 : the camera is moving too fast and should be smoothed for direction changes.
i found that you could try to populate the maps with some hl2 characters and monsters .
some human allies could be added to prison maps : in jail or dead , some combine or css soldiers to the military zones . some monsters could be found in the nature : antlion , crabsynth for exemple while in some room antlion grubs with combine advisor .
